Lowepro Fastpack 350

So while I’m trying to get into photography as a hobby I figured getting a bag to carry around an expensive camera and expensive kit was a worthwhile investment, especially if I want to go on holiday and take the camera and my laptop – it means I can put my expensive camera and kit, expensive laptop and some little bits inside the bag and take it on the plane with me instead of it getting banged around in luggage.

So while looking around for bags I stumbled upon the Lowepro Fastpack 350. It has a lower section for the camera and some lenses, pockets are adjustable with velcro and the entire thing is heavily padded with little pockets to hold stuff like memory cards and batteries. The back of the bag is also padded and zips open on one side to allow you to stick a laptop in – the 350 supports up to a 17″ laptop however my laptop is a very tight fit (though it is also a gaming laptop so its not exactly slimline) so I’d probably recommend going with a 15″ laptop.

The padding on this bag is extremely good, everything feels super safe when you put it in and when its on your back, just what you want from a padded bag carrying a whole lot of expensive and easily breakable things. The first thing I thought when I saw and felt all the padding was that it was really going to make it pretty uncomfy to walk around with, I was totally wrong. The bag is also massively comfy. There’s a whole lot of strapping with it so there’s no strain on any one part of your body when its fully loaded, everything is spread evenly which is perfect.

One side of the bag has a little netted pocket to carry a water bottle and the other side of the bag has quick access to your camera without putting anything else in the bag at risk of falling and saving you the time to take it all off and unpack it or whatever for those times where you need the camera quick or you just want the camera without any hassle.

The top half of the bag is for putting little things in, now this pocket isn’t massive but it certainly holds more than it looks like it would, its ideal for say your lunch and a couple of (smallish) books and stuff. This bag is also littered with little pockets. They’re literally everywhere. There are pockets inside pockets, pockets on pockets. These pockets aren’t big but they are suitable for a variety of things from batteries and memory cards to accessories and pens. Anything you want to put in the bag there will be a pocket for.

Overall I’d give this bag 9 out of 10, it loses a point for the laptop pocket being a very tight fit (I do have to force my laptop in) for a 17″ laptop.
